Do you want the opportunity to work as part of a very skilled team? Then apply for the position as Travel Jointer at NKT Service & Installation. As a Travel Jointer/Splicer, your work includes the assembly and installation of sea and land cables, including accessories, in various locations within the United States, with the possibility to travel abroad.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Safe repair and installation of low, medium, and high voltage underground and submarine cables using NKT’s patented technology and processes
  • Work safely with no electrical contact incidents or personal injuries
  • Assist in fostering a zero-incident safety culture and behavior
  • Follow OSHA and company safety rules
  • Prepare cables for electrical work according to company quality standards
  • Provide field service
  • Assist the Team Leader with job planning, hazard avoidance, and recording daily work records
  • Work in confined spaces as required
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment
  • Perform final checks of cable systems
  • Provide positive customer service and perform other duties as assigned

Furthermore, we are looking for someone who has valuable education and years of splicing work experience with terminations and has a good understanding of cables. You are willing to be trained and be prepared for work on-site in the field. In your role as a Travel Jointer/Splicer, you must also be flexible to work the days and hours necessary to successfully meet customer needs.

Important requirements for the position include:

  • Relevant work experience as a Cable Splicer (Jointer) or as an experienced Lineman with current certifications/documentation
  • Experience with line work, fault location, and repair
  • Firm jointing skills, including inline splices, termination of cables
  • Ability to read electrical drawings/circuit maps
  • Basic computer skills and entry-level proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, internet/web
  • Understanding of basic construction skills
  • Safe work record and a firm commitment to safety
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel domestically (required) and internationally (preferred)
  • Conditions may vary based on assignment
