Master Data Steward – Operations

Are you passionate about Master Data Management? Join us as a Master Data Steward within Operations in our newly established Master Data Management team in Chennai, India. In this role, you will focus on master data critical to the Operations function, including production, inventory, and vendor management. By collaborating closely with business lines and data owners, you will ensure that operational data supports efficient supply chain and manufacturing processes while driving improvements in governance and data quality.

 

Primary Responsibilities

As a Master Data Steward for Operations, you will:

  • 4+ years of experience as a Master Data steward, with a proven track record in similar roles.
  • Own and take responsibility for master data within Operations domain, including but not limited to BOMs (Bills of Materials), inventory/warehouse data, product data, and vendor management.
  • Define and implement MDM processes, establish governance frameworks, and ensure data quality in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with business lines and data owners to identify data challenges, define priorities, and implement solutions.
  • Partner with data owners in the business to ensure adherence to governance policies and processes, offering guidance and support as needed.
  • Define and enforce data quality standards for operational data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data critical to manufacturing and logistics.
  • Review and approve data changes and updates to maintain accuracy and integrity.
  • Identify, address, and resolve data issues and inconsistencies in collaboration with other data stewards.
  • Oversee and manage tasks delegated to master data analysts, custodians, and data owners, ensuring that responsibilities are carried out effectively.
  • Coordinate and/or support operational projects, such as new product introductions, supply chain optimization, and system implementations, ensuring data readiness and quality.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with SAP Master Data in Operations (BOMs, inventory, production, external vendors). Experience with S4 Hana is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of supply chain and manufacturing processes and how master data enables them. Serve as an expert and provide guidance on data management within Operations.
  • Ability to ensure the quality, accuracy, consistency, and integrity of master data across the organization.
  • Expertise in establishing and upholding data standards, ensuring compliance with policies, and mitigating data-related risks.
  • Capability to propose and discuss data policies and activities to enhance data management practices.
  • Skilled in identifying, addressing, and resolving data issues and inconsistencies in collaboration with other data stewards and Business Lines.
  • Ability to maintain documentation of data definitions, processes, and standards
  • Proficiency in enhancing and validating data quality through systematic checks and improvements.
  • Capability to oversee and manage tasks delegated to the MDM team
  • Knowledge of product lifecycle management tools and their integration with master data systems is an advantage.
