Legal Expertise for Infrastructure Projects

Do you want to play a key role in shaping the legal framework of the energy transition in Germany? At NKT, we are looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial-minded Legal Counsel to support our Projects and Large Contracts (PLC) team in Germany. This position offers you the opportunity to work at the forefront of the energy industry and support major infrastructure projects that contribute to a more sustainable future. You will be part of an international and collaborative environment where your legal expertise significantly influences the outcomes of tenders and projects. Are you ready to work in a company that connects a greener world?

Legal Support for Tenders and Projects

In this role, you will provide legal support throughout the entire project lifecycle – from tendering to implementation – ensuring legal certainty and economic benefit. You will work closely with the sales, project management, and contract management teams, provide practical legal advice, and participate in negotiations with customers and subcontractors.

Your responsibilities:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and revising EPCI contracts and commercial documents in the field of national and international plant construction, with a focus on "installation of cable systems"
  • Participating in negotiations with customers and subcontractors in Germany and abroad
  • Legal advice for the sales team on national and international tenders
  • Supporting project teams with legal issues and disputes
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders and conducting training sessions at our German and European locations

You will report to the Head of PLC Germany/Benelux and work at the Cologne site, with the option for remote work. Travel (national and international) is up to 25%, depending on the projects.

Strategic Personality with Legal Acumen

We are looking for a motivated and solution-oriented individual with a legal background who thrives in a demanding, interdisciplinary environment. You make well-founded decisions, communicate clearly, and build professional relationships. You stand for a professional work ethic but also value teamwork.

Your Profile:

  • Qualification as a fully qualified lawyer with the second state examination
  • At least 5 years of experience as in-house counsel in the EPCI sector or as a lawyer in infrastructure projects
  • Solid knowledge of German commercial law, with a focus on plant construction and construction law. Excellent knowledge of FIDIC contract templates is essential; familiarity with other relevant templates such as NEC 3 and 4 is desirable
  • Initiative and a solution-oriented approach to challenges and problems
  • High degree of flexibility, problem-solving skills, and confident communication
  • A team player who enjoys taking on challenges and excels in interdisciplinary work on large-scale projects
  • Fluent English and German language skills
