Job Description

Senior Crewing Officer

Do you want to play a key role in ensuring our offshore vessels and projects are supported by qualified, skilled and well-prepared crews? We’re looking for a Senior Crewing Officer to manage and coordinate crewing activities across NKT’s Marine Operations Department.

Reporting to the Crewing Manager, you will take senior-level responsibility for the full crew lifecycle, from recruitment and mobilisation to training, payroll administration and demobilisation. You will provide guidance on complex crewing matters and build close working relationships with offshore teams, project stakeholders and crewing partners.

What you’ll do

As Senior Crewing Officer, you will be responsible for the people, systems and logistics needed to keep our marine operations safely and effectively crewed. You will:

  • Manage and support the recruitment, screening, interviewing and appointment of skilled crew members for maritime and offshore projects.
  • Oversee crew rotations and deployments, including travel, accommodation, mobilisation plans, crew changes and flag-state requirements.
  • Ensure crew certification, insurance, immigration documentation and port-clearance arrangements meet relevant maritime regulations and client requirements.
  • Maintain oversight of crew records, manifests, competence information and day-to-day vessel plans using NPT, WFM and other crew management systems.
  • Coordinate onboarding arrangements, including IT access, DPR training, shift composition and rotation plans.
  • Lead training and development, monitor crew performance and wellbeing, and support talent identification, succession planning, and traineeships.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for vessel leadership, project teams, technical management, crew suppliers and agencies, providing guidance on complex crewing requirements.
  • Support the Crewing Manager with procedures, workforce planning and continuous improvements, and provide cover when required.
  • Oversee demobilisation, timesheet verification, payroll and invoicing support, performance feedback, lessons learned and performance record updates.

What you bring

We’re looking for an experienced, organised and people-focused crewing professional who can exercise sound judgement, manage competing priorities and provide guidance to colleagues and stakeholders. Your background may include:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Substantial experience in crewing or a similar role within the maritime industry, with experience handling complex crew planning and operational matters.
  • Solid knowledge of international crewing operations, maritime labour laws, offshore terms and conditions, and relevant market standards.
  • A thorough understanding of maritime regulations and competence requirements, including STCW and GWO.
  • Experience using crew management software and managing relationships with subcontractors, suppliers or crewing agencies.
  • Solid organisational, project-management and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise and make informed decisions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with and build trusted relationships across onshore and offshore teams.
  • Knowledge of offshore cable installation and burial tools such as trenchers, ploughs and vertical injectors would be beneficial, as would additional maritime or crewing qualifications.
