Drive complex nearshore cable installation projects globally

Are you interested in working on large scale cable installation projects that support the green transition? As a Senior Project Engineer Nearshore, you will be responsible for the engineering activities and will be a key player during execution of nearshore installation scopes, including landfall, barge cable lay and burial activities. You will coordinate technical interfaces, develop and document installation methodologies, support tender activities and contribute to the continuous development of NKT's nearshore installation capabilities.

Coordinate engineering activities from planning to execution


As a Senior Project Engineer Nearshore, you will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, combining engineering, project coordination and site-based activities. The role focuses on landfall, barge cable lay and burial solutions, as well as the preparation of technical documentation, work methods and installation procedures. You will work closely with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers and clients to ensure technical requirements, quality standards and safety expectations are met while contributing to the continued development of NKT’s nearshore installation capabilities.


Your responsibility will be to:
•    Own engineering work packages for nearshore installation projects through project life cycle
•    Develop and document work methods for shallow-water vessels, barges and landfall operations
•    Prepare and review technical documentation, drawings and method statements
•    Act as the primary engineering focal point for allocated scopes
•    Support risk assessments, HSE planning, quality assurance activities and project execution phases
The position is based in Rotterdam with the possibility for project travel. You will report to the Director Near Shore Installation and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders across NKT projects.


Experienced marine engineering professional for global projects


You are a collaborative and organised professional who enjoys working with a variety of stakeholders and communicating clearly across teams. You are responsible for your work, maintain a high level of accuracy, and respond effectively to changing project requirements. You bring a practical approach to problem-solving and contribute positively to team collaboration. You are comfortable with office-based activities with element of site work included and are committed to safe and reliable project delivery in an international environment.
You also have:
•    Bachelor and/or Master degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Offshore Engineering, or a related technical field
•    5+ years of engineering experience in Coastal engineering or nearshore or offshore cable installation, or subsea infrastructure projects
•    Experience preparing technical documentation, method statements and installation procedures
•    Exposure to working with multidisciplinary projects and project execution phases, including preparation, mobilization and site support
•    Proficiency in English, Dutch or German is seen as a benefit
