A key role in advancing high‑ and medium‑voltage products

 

To support ongoing activities within the Applied Mechanics Department, we are seeking an R&D Simulation and Testing Engineer for a fixed‑term position. The department’s core skills include applied mechanics, mechanical testing, advanced modelling, and simulations, such as computational fluid dynamics (CFD), finite element analysis (FEA), and Multiphysics simulations.

 

Our work spans a broad portfolio of high‑ and medium‑voltage products, with a particular focus on high‑voltage cable systems that play a vital role in the global transition to sustainable energy.

 

As an R&D Simulation and Testing Engineer, you will work in a multidisciplinary, innovation‑driven environment. You will provide advanced technical support to NKT and external industries worldwide, helping to solve complex mechanical challenges involving multiple physical phenomena. Your work will cover all stages of the product development cycle—from early concept development to testing and validation.

 

Your main tasks will be to:

  • Perform finite element analysis for different innovative product applications to solve complex problems that arise in various areas of applied mechanics for medium and high voltage application
  • Design and builds test set-ups for mechanical investigations and mechanical test fixture
  • Perform advanced mechanical tests, including data acquisition and analysis
  • Understand our internal and external customer needs as well as their business drivers and implement creative solutions that requires highly advanced computational models and complex simulation analyses
  • Manage and conduct various type of consulting and R&D projects end-to-end, from initial client discussion to execution and reporting. Your modeling and simulation contributions will play a crucial role in the advancement of high and medium voltage product lines.

 

Structured, goal‑oriented, and communicative

To thrive in this role, you have proficient verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. Experience in building and maintaining close customer relations. You appreciate the balance of working alone and collaborating with a variety of team members. Besides the required credentials, your approach to problem-solving will involve systematic identification of client needs and innovative exploration of possible solutions.

 

Apart from this you do also have:

  • Technical Ph.D. or a M.Sc. with two years of industrial experience in mechanical simulation or structural dynamics modeling
  • Knowledge of finite element method and numerical modeling.
  • Knowledge of laboratory test environment with solid working knowledge of mechanical test equipment and test setups.
  • Proficient in using commercial software tools, including ABAQUS, with a wealth of experience
