Embed sustainability into complex transmission projects
NKT contributes to renewable transition by delivering power cable solutions for large-scale transmission. As (Senior) Project Sustainability Manager, you ensure sustainability is fully integrated into project planning and execution, from tender to delivery, translating requirements into measurable outcomes and clear documentation. You will work closely with international teams and customers on complex infrastructure projects. Do you want to play a central role in making sustainability tangible in project delivery?
Coordinate sustainability planning across the full project lifecycle
In this role, you manage the Project Sustainability Plan end-to-end, ensuring that contractual requirements, internal standards, and regulatory frameworks such as CSRD/ESRS are translated into practical actions, KPIs, and reporting structures. You act as the central point for sustainability within the project, maintaining transparency, reliable data, and alignment across stakeholders. You ensure tender-to-execution handover is translated into an executable Project Sustainability Plan with clear milestones, KPIs, and reporting routines.
Your responsibility will be to:
- Integrate sustainability requirements into project execution, governance, and documentation
- Define and manage scope, KPIs, risks, and reporting within the sustainability plan
- Prepare sustainability reports, updates, and documentation for stakeholders
- Ensure data quality for Scope 1–3 metrics and LCA reporting
- Support audits, compliance processes, and follow-up on corrective actions
You will be based in Cologne, Germany, working closely with international project teams. You will report to Head of Sustainability – Transmission Business Line and work in close day-to-day cooperation with the Project Manager(s) and the project organisation . Collaboration across Engineering, Procurement, Installation, QHSE, Legal, and Commercial teams is essential. Some travel may be required.
Collaborative and structured professional in sustainability projects
You approach work with structure and clarity, balancing attention to detail with a pragmatic mindset. You communicate openly, build trust across functions and cultures, and maintain transparency in complex environments. You take ownership of your work and ensure that tasks are followed through, while supporting collaboration and shared understanding across project teams and stakeholders.
You also have:
- University degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, or related field
- Experience with sustainability or HSE in project environments
- Knowledge of CSRD, ESRS, and EU Taxonomy frameworks
- Experience with Scope 1–3 accounting and LCA methodology
- Familiarity with audits, compliance, and permit processes
